It's mid of a fine
February, we have gone through the chills of winter and now, we all are gearing
ourselves up for the upcoming scorching heat. As a resident of Rajasthan, if I
talk about my home state where temperature in the summers measures up to 49°C. For many of us, the beginning of May marks the
starting of summer vacations where we lie in front of television, with the bag
of chips and a fine glass of chilled coke. To cool ourselves off, we have air
conditioners, desert coolers.
But
aren't we forgetting something about someone who can't speak for his own?
Isn't assuring other's prosperity is our matter of concern?
Definitely
we did that, didn't we?
What I can grasp from the reminiscence of the preceding night was several dogs wagging their tails as it was my usual time of feeding them. I had every essential eatables jam - packed in my plate, from eggs to chapati, from bones to occasional biscuits. As I stepped further to give them their shares, within a fraction of second, a stone pelted by some random kid bruised one of my fellow speechless friends.
"Mummy,
vo dekho kutta?"
"Kahan
hai, maaro use."
And those dogs fade away, I even waited at the sidewalks for a while. I went on lurking for them as I stepped further in the darks, there were some howls and when I whistled, they didn't waste a single second and all of a sudden, they gathered around me wagging their tails.
Sounds
adorable, doesn't it?
While
I am writing this, I can still hear the echoes of those relentless voices of
the kid and his mother. I mean, it is the dog's fault who trust people blindly
or it was always us, who think of their canines when someone pronounces the
word "DOG". They never vandalize our surroundings, they never want
each and every second of our lives, WHAT IS THAT BLIND LOVE AND TRUST THAT
PREVAILS IN THEIR HEARTS?
I
bet many of us have hurt a stray dog once in our life. Or if not, we have seen
one get hurt. They survive winters, they don't have shelters when rain causes
havoc and most importantly, many of them die in scorching summers. Most of them
fail to live for a year. It is not safe for them to take shelter under the cars
as many of them find their skulls crushes by the tires. Even if they succeed in
finding some place to hide, folks like us don't care to render some
hospitality.
If I ask you that
is it fair to give them such harsh treatment for believing in our fake smiles
and love, what will be your answer?
Can't we take a
moment to introspect ourselves and think about the stuff which goes round and
round in the minds of those helpless creatures?
They all lack
proper nutrition, sanitation and hope to see a good day. For many of them, a
good day includes food from a loving person. They don't even care if those
biscuits are out of best before dates, I wish they could read and speak like
us.
Their sufferings don’t
end here. We often hear of dogs getting sexually brutalized by humans. In this
very minute, I don't think that my pen has enough courage to inscribe their
tears into words.
If a dog turns mad,
we kill him by saying that he/she is a potential threat to humans.
WHAT DO WE DO FOR
SUCH A MAD HUMAN? WHERE ARE THE GODS TO PUNISH HIS BEST CREATION?
Many of us dream to
have a pet dog, many of us have one. But if I ask you folks that how many of
you have stray dogs adopted, how many raised hands can I expect? REMEMBER ONE
THING PEOPLE, FANCY MUST BE THE LOVE WITH WHICH WE CHERISH AND RAISE THOSE DOGS
WITH.
